On a casual chat with Swathi,I came across a book called "Snapshots from hell"...She told it was a great read and also added it is all about MBA.I being a victim of CAT fiasco always fall prey to anything related to MBA and IIM's.Books authored by IIT and IIM students always makes me to grab one..The very same week I got the book "Snapshots from hell" authored by "Peter Robinson" and I assure all I had was a delicious read.
Peter Robinson is an MBA graduate from Stanford University. In this book he explains about his experience in Stanford University .He worked as a speechwriter in Reagan's government and then decided to opt for his MBA at Stanford.
He coins a term called "Poets" and people with literature and not so from Math background fall into the category. Peter enters Stanford with lots of expectations like others. What he witnessed was totally a different thing...The poets including him found it hard to cope with MATH papers and to add fury the case studies seemed to be an alien.
I understand the first year is very important when it comes to MBA,where you get an opportunity to work on case studies and work hard like never before. You are totally dumped with assignments, presentations ,case studies et al and you hardly get time for your personal work or for recreation. Peter also witnessed the same thing. The first year students were working very hard solving cases, clearing exams and many more. Sometimes these monotony created a frustration but then the life at B school moves on the same way.
Poets found it very hard to cope MATH related papers. They devoted extra hours to crack the same. Finally arrived the winter and summer placements where people hopped for their jobs. At the end of their course all of them managed to come out with a job, so did Peter.
Recession hits the market and the MBA's lose their jobs. Some managed to sustain their job. Some were fired and entered into job hopping .Peter was also pushed away from his job. Finally he gets back into writing, but this times he writes on all topics(Thanks to Stanford from where he gained a rich experience and which moulded him to write on business topics as well).
I loved the ending in the book, it goes this way "Business schools are definitely not heaven but they teach you things and gives ya confidence to shatter obstacles to survive".(It is just a rough summary forgot the exact words from the book)
Some pages contains case studies and MBA related topics. But during your read you can skim those(I did it).It was a nice read. You get to know a lot about Stanford and MBA. Do try your hand on this book and let me know your views as well.
Currently reading "Fine balance" not sure when I will complete, once done I will be back with my review :)

ramblings
Been away from this space for a week but it appears as if like an eon.As usual I have loads of ramblings and so I am ready to purge it out here.
1.There were days when I desperately prayed for a change. For the past few days I witness lotsa changes...People say "Change is always good" and I too hope for it.
2.These days I don't spend much on reading moi novels.I wanted to get back to my voracious reading. This week I wanted to finish "Snapshots from hell".Let's see.
3.Lovely people exists in this cosmos.Getting opportunity to meet such lovely\true hearted people these days.I have loads and loads to learn from them.Life is a learning process and so I am sure I will keep up the zeal of learning throughout in ma life.
4.These days I keep my mouth dumb.Whenever I get to see people discussing things,I keep my mouth shut.I don't speak for the topic or I don't speak against the topic. What happened to my senses.Have I gone numb?Wondering what is happening in me!
5.One of ma friend is travelling to Netherland on an onsite tenure.I am so happy for her.For all her talents I am sure she will scale great heights.Bon voyage Geets:)
thatz it,will ramble often.

Blogadda contest:First crush
There exists situation where you completely go beyond this current world may be to mars or saturn and enjoy a separate world called the "dream world".
If you think above are the symptoms of insanity,my friend you got it wrong. It is all about "Crush effect".
Saw this cool contest in blogadda and immediately decided to gush out my crush effect. If you are still wondering what the crush effect is,please proceed further.
It was the first day of my college. Most of the day was spent in introductory sessions.Since we were fresh from school that day was allotted for "ice breaking sessions".That was the only day where we didnot have any technical sessions.Murmurs occupied the entire class.groups were formed and my peers were busy discussing something serious.I did lend my ears to hear what the discussion was all about(naah it is not eavesdropping I say).Later I came to know that it was all about cricket.Being a novice in cricket I tried them to pull out from the topic but in vain. The last thing I could do was take a pledge to concentrate more on cricket matches which will help me to join their conversation at the later stage.
I begged my brother to teach me the nuances of cricket.Learnt a lot about gully, silly and duck outs. One day he was teaching me the names of cricker players and to our coincidence Britannia ad splashed on the screen. My bro pointed the ad and told that is "Ganguly" who is famous for his Sixers.from then on I started to follow the ad closely and later I realized who my first crush is.I made sure that I eat atleast one packet of britannia everyday just because ganguly was featuring in the ad.britannaia became my staple diet.
And then I started to witness the crush effect in me.I started to enter into a different world often dreaming about Ganguly.I started to giggle myself.I witnessed a churning effect in my stomach ,I reciprocated it with a coy smile.I started to gobble the most hated upma in a second when I saw ganguly on TV screen.Whenever he entered the ground I prayed for his century. For every ball he faced I became nervous.Whenever he was adjudged as "man of the match" it was time for me to celebrate.People at home benchmarked me as a total loony.
I was qualified as a "not-so-novice" in cricket and so I started to indulge myself in cricket discussions with ma friends. We started to speak endlessly about cricket. On an usual chat one of my friend gushed out her love towards ganguly.I was shell shocked to see Murphy in the form of my friend.Later on a casual visit to her home I was astonished to see posters of him all around her room.her love is much stronger than mine.I was completely choked on seeing a particular poster. My dream was completely thwarted.I came to know he was married to Dona.Within a few seconds the churning effect got vanished, crush effect was abated.I started to hate my upma to the core.

I heard my friend saying "there is always an another crush" and that brought a smile in me and ultimately we broke into laughter.
Gradually I shifted my interest from cricket to F1.Later I witnessed an another crush there. It was Schumacher. The same story started to repeat!
Thanks blogadda for this wonderful opportunity.

Book review-The dark room
I am a die hard fan of "R.K.Narayan".After the dawn of 2010,I said myself that I have to complete all his collections.Being a sluggish sloth that I am, completing all his collections is gonna be a herculean task.
I recently completely his book "The dark room" and here goes the review.
"The dark room" is all about the couple "Savitri and Ramani".Ramani always appears to be of dominating genre, on the other hand Savitri tends to be submissive. She never questions her husband and accepts whatever he says!Life moves on with the same way.
All of a sudden yet another feminine character enters into Savitri's life which leads to total chaos in the family.Savitri moves out of her home and for a very short period she stays away from her home.
Being so much engulfed with her family she could not withstand being all alone and she decides to return back to her family and finally she does that.
Well coming back to the title,Savitri tends to stay in her "Dark room" whenever she encounters tussle with her hubby. But there appears a situation which makes her to shun everything including her dark room and which makes her to move away from her home.At the later stage she again comes back to her home.
R.K.Narayan writings are always a delicious treat for the readers. His way of ending the stories are always different and you would witness a differnt cusp in his flavour of writing.
Stay tuned in this space to read more book reviews of R.K.Narayan's collection.
And the next book review is gonna be “Snapshots from hell” !Stay tuned!
Till then adieu amigos

I am what I am
My blog is a reflection of my true self...I so much love writing and so I entered into the world of blogging:)Whenever I am happy I find a reason to blog and when I am gloomy I approach this space and spew out all my emotions!
This post of mine is something which is gonna be my rambling.I speak from my mind and I am here not to hurt others and here ya go!
1.I come across this saying very often "Ahhh gal taking the responsibility of a family???well it is so weird?---I would like to say a thing "Hey you (some) male chauvinist hold on...Stop your discrimination of gals and guys...Gals are so much in par with guys!Is it a stigma that a gal should not take responsibility??...I am sorry if this is your mind plz change it...Yes I tend to be a reformer in my words!I am a gal and so I vouch we are equally potent and can take any
challenges or responsibilities! We are ready to shatter any obstacles.
2.I HATE people who speak coaxing and cajoling words!I DON'T want any sugar coated words!I don't want humbug words!I am not expecting jaggery filled words.. all I need is a true friendship and a true love.
3.These days I have gained hatred towards PITY!Don't pity others, instead if you can motivate them do that ,else please never disturb them!that will be a great help.
4.I HATE gold ornaments!I hate to wear bangles! No sir I would like to be my true self!Being from an orthodox brahmin family I get to hear that not wearing bangles is an offense! For namesake I just wear it but still I am in the league "I HATE GOLD ORNAMENTS or BANGLES" for that sake...
Last but not the least "We are the one to create rules!we are also the one just to break the rules for our sake!Be true to yourself and don't create harm to others! If you find you are heading towards a right path "JUST DO IT" and damn care the least about others!
Wonder why today my post is related to hatred? But con't help.As I said earlier I need to spew out and so I did it!
PS:I am open to say whatever I think and is it an offense to be open?sigh!
