The saga of my soup

It was raining cats and dogs...Being so much sensitive to cold my hands started to shiver...I con't even withstand chennai's weather wonder how on earth I will manage my stay at Kashmir. Well I do not want to diverge...were was I...oh yes I was shivering and my tooth started to dance to the tunes of thunder...disguised myself in full hand salwar+shawl and I felt it was relieving me to an extent...

My hunger pangs was longing for something hot and crispy...Same with my hubby too...Mother-in-law was busy in the kitchen...Only later I came to know she was busy preparing vegetable soup for all of us...She dishes out varieties in a jiffy...There I was standing near the chef and was keenly observing the method of preparation...She boiled all the veggies(Bells Pepper, Carrot, Beans, Cauliflower and Tomato) on the pressure cooker...Finally made a fine paste out of the boiled veggies in a mixture with water..Filtered it and removed the coarse texture....On a medium flame she placed a heavy bottomed vessel with the veggie essence(the one obtained after filtering)...Stirred it for few minutes...On the completing note she mixed corn flour to the veggie essence and added required salt..stirred again for a minute or two and switched the stove off...you may want to know my part in the soup making right?...Hold on...I was seriously observing the whole process...Tough job I say! She served the soup hot with fried crispy breads floating on the top of the soup..The soup came out pretty well and we were longing for more...It is a complete bliss to enjoy the rainy day with your bowl of soup...pure bliss I say!

So the consecutive weekend We(Ma hubby and I) visited my mom's place. Proudly and ostentatiously I was all mouth telling that I had learnt a new recipe vegetable soup..My father was travelling that day to a function...I told him to wait for few minutes to taste my vegetable soup before he leaves for the function...told my bro that I am going to make delicious soup...My hubby was all set to taste the yummy soup...

I added Bells pepper, Carrots, Beans, Ginger and Tomato ...boiled the veggies....made it as fine paste and was searching for a filter...To my dismay I did not get the right one but managed to remove the coarse texture...Placed the essence on a thick bottomed vessel..stirred it for a while and added corn flour paste with salt and again stirred it and switched it off...I was so much confident of my preparation and so I prepared the soup for some 15people...

My hubby and bro were already waiting to taste it...phew my father was waiting to taste it but I never seem to complete and so he left for the function...I handed the bowls of soup to two of the scapegoats...one being my hubby and the other being my bro...Bro took the first spoon of the soup and he never opened his mouth...If you think he was spellbound about my preparation friend you are totally wrong he was dumbstruck with my not-so-good work...Then he commented my soup as a cough syrup and never dared to taste it for the second time...poor hubby did not say a word and was struggling with his bowl...Being good natured that I am ,I understood his situation and magnanimously asked him not to taste further...During the meantime my bro started to advertise the quality of the soup which I prepared...No one dared to taste it and so I am...ROFL...the entire content of the soup on the vessel was left untouched...After a round of research I understood that I added carrot and ginger as the predominant ingredient which spoiled the taste...

Now when I spell the word soup, my hubby pleads me not to speak of it anymore...From then on he started to share my soup making skills to every other person on earth...sigh...I do not dare to try the soup again...secondly now you should understand how good I am when it comes to observation...

The word soup brings a churning effect in my stomach...oh It was all because of my preparation...I need to closely observe my MIL when she prepares soup for the next time...I was in a soup because of my soup preparation.

Scary night

It's been sometime that I was away from writing/blogging/commenting...I just wanted to come back and just drafted this small story within minutes! Please let me know your comments :)

It was pitch dark and the sky was engulfed with dark clouds. The moon shone with its lovely beauty.Stars dangled and was playing hide and seek with the dark clouds. She was all alone with just a candle as her company. The pitch dark surrounding scared her a lot.Thunder bolted with its cacophony and harsh wind blew which not only disheveled her hair but also killed her company...Her body started to tremble and the air was filled with jitters. She started to move out from the place but her legs were so weak because of her ailment from the fever...Her memories went back and retrived stories narrated by her granny..Phew all the stories were relating to ghost which created extra scariness...Started as a cute little drop the rain started to fall on the earth with its sudden madness. Her body started to shiver and her face went pale. Her eyes were apple red and was searching for something or someone. All her fear vanished within a jiffy when the power came back and bright light splashed on her face.

1947-a love story-Beginning of a fresh journey

So here is the sequel of the “1947 –a love story”

I sent the snaps and the very next day my chithi called my mom to confirm whether the gal in the hardcopy and the gal in the softcopy are one and the same...My hubby asks me the same question even today... :P I totally looked different in both of my snaps...

Day's rolled and month's too...It was the start of the month June...And I was all set to attend my cousin's reception...My dad and I went for the reception and I was all busy speaking to my cousin..Beep heard a sound from my mobile(SMS?for me?I don't have the habit of msging through mobile(one more weird quality) and here comes a msg...It was from my chithi and said "Sent my son's snap"..Show it to amma and paati...

A call followed the very next moment...It was amma...

Mom:So when are you coming to home...

Me:In an hour or two..

Mom:They have sent the photo it seems...We(Paati and I) wanted to see it.

Me:Log into the sys..I will give my id..you check...

Mom:I don't know how to check..You better come..

Me:Then wait for 3 hours...

Mom:Ok...

My dad was listening to all our communications and he also wanted to see the snap...

Reached home by 11.30pm that night...Mom and paati were waiting for us..The moment I reached home, they pulled me to the computer...

Mom:Open it fast

Me:Computer is very slow when compared to you...wait if you want..

Mom:A new mail popped up..It was from my chithi

I opened it and there it read "photo of Karthik"...

Paati,Mom and Dad asked me to zoom the snap in every possible way...It was so tired of all their instructions...The photo had an image of a guy floating in the air(Only later we came to know,it was taken in a hurry and all blame was with the photographer)...Further the guy had an unshaven face...

Mom:What is your opinion

Me:Well ...Nothing came to my mind at that point of time...

Dad:His face looks unshaven..I guess the photo should have been taken long before.

Paati:Further the snap look as if he is floating in the air...

Mom:Why don't we ask them for another snap?

Me:I don't know...you do whatever you want...

I don't know when this message about photo was passed to the groom's family..The very next day I got a mail from my chithi reading "Karthik's photo"...

I showed it to my parents and paati...this time they were completely satisfied with the guy in the photo who had cleanly shaven face and was with a formal wear...After all the zooming sections,I was asked to forward the snap to all my relatives....errrrrrrrrr too many formalities...and I did as pointed....

Date was fixed for the "ponnu paakara" formality...

I again protested and said to my mom that I am going to be very simple..No more fanta color saree and no more shiny jewels..All I am going to do is wear a simple saree...Again scolding and advices...And I am made to wear all the glittery walla things and a silk saree...

Home was crowded with relatives..almost 50 people all around...And then like the good old tradition..I was asked to come out from the room and was given extra 5 minutes time to speak to the groom...

Me:Felt so scary and tensed…Hands started to shiver

Karthik: (Sat in a comfortable posture)…Why don’t you take your seat.

Me: Thanks and took a not –so-comfortable seat...and from then I started to speak on and on...For the second time after my cognizant's interview I recited my answer for the question "tell me about yourself"...though Karthik did not ask me the question...(Still I con’t control my laughter when I think of this…ok I was attending an interview for a fresh life this time)

And 5 minutes were over.. decisions were made that we are going to get married ..A sweet surprise came and that same evening we had our engagement :)All happened so fast in a jiffy...

From engagement till the marriage I did not get an opportunity to see him again(ok only once I had an opportunity during a function..that too we spoke for another 5 minutes :P )...My hubby use to say that our's is a "1947-a love story"...Where everything happened in an old orthodoxy way :)

So the fresh ,new refreshing life starts from there J

Here comes the end of the sequel

On a dizzy evening

It was a dizzy evening...Darkness everywhere...Chill weather, snowy mountain, misty surrounding and pin drop silence ... They were on an evening stroll atop mountain...Wild wind made her hair to dishevel.

She was all shivering...Her hands started to tremble...Her jerkin helped her the least...She was searching for a him...Her eyes sieved around the darkness. All of a sudden he arouse behind her.She fixed her eyes on him...She was running out of words..Her eyes spoke the entire feelings..He understood and did hugged her tight...She was expecting his cuddle for so long and the warmth did satisfy her expectation. She clasped his hand tight and started to walk hand in hand...They started to explore their new phase of their refreshing journey called life.

1947-A love story

1947 a love story

If you wonder that this post is gonna be related to 1947 love story movie...Ha ha ha you are absolutely wrong sir...This series(I assure not be a lengthy one) is going to be about my story(yay about the marital status change from "single" to "married").The deception point about the title is mine is not a love story but it is purely truly an arranged one.To bring extra cajoling and coaxing to the story I added a bit of extra flavour to the title...So enough of my blabbers...Here goes my story.

when did it all start???I mean the groom hunting...

It was the dawn of 2010...Pongal celebrations were on full swing...My mom slowly but steadily started the topic...She is very diplomatic in whatever she does...

Mom:You know what...Chithra your cousin is engaged now..Gayatri's mom told that they are searching groom for her...And heard Sarawathi gave birth to a kid..All of them are of your age...

Me:So what is the implied meaning here...

Mom:Nothing...Just wanted to say...Why don't you go with your dad and take a snap..

Me:What is the need

Mom:My mom's sister's daughter's hubby's bro has got a son...He is elder than you...I sent your horoscope and it matched well and they are asking for your snap...

Me:What????When did the game start?I mean the exchange of horoscopes and blah blah...

Mom:Enough of your wits...Go with your dad and take a snap..

Me:I don't have a photogenic face..I will not go...

Mom:I will ask your granny to speak to you(She always uses the brahmasthram called "Granny",because I never dare to shout at my granny)...

Me:Seri seri poren ma...But deal don't ask me to wear all the glittery jewels or don't ask me to smudge my face with creams and powders which obviously makes others to pose a question "Are you owning any powder company".

Mom:Once in lifetime you ought to opt for makeup and clad yourself with bright coloured saree and jewels...Don't you think that "Fanta color" saree would do...

Me:If you want me to decorate myself like " I am the brand ambassador of XYZ jewelley or for any textile shop"..I say I am not going with appa...Fantaaaaaaaa colorrrrrrrrrrr...It is too vibrant and to add fury the scorching sun creates extra effect and other's will surely laugh at me...So I am going to be simple..

Mom:What else I can say..better i shall call your grannyyyyyyyyyy...

Me:whattttttttttt.....You dare to use my weak point so often...

After all the arguments...I marched with my dad ..wearing the silk saree on a scorching day was a tiring experience....

Appa:oops...Seems like that photo studio is locked..

Me:Appa sagunam serla...Shall we go back..

Appa:Will you close your mouth...My friend owns a studio..We shall go there...

Studio Saga...

Studio owner is my father's friend...After a round of enquires...My father stated the purpose of visit..Studio owner assured to put his extraneous photo skills to make my face look pretty in the snap..poor moi!

Me:Sir...I am already running out of time...Con't wait more...

Studio Owner:You father is known for his patience...I don't know why you are so much in hurry...Ok go and stand there I will take a snap...

Me:Sir,2 mins and I should be done with my snap

Dad:Close your mouth and stand there...He knows things better than you...

With a smirk...I went and stood in the correct place and gave a "I am so tired, plz leave me" sorta look...For 20 mins, the owner was asking me to tilt my head this way and that way..Asking me to stand erect...Threatened me to smile and asked me to stay cool(How on earth will one be so cool, when you are asked to smile, stand and stare in an artificial manner)...

After all the chaos I created,he said "smile please" and I did do it...After waiting for 20 minutes...We got the snap....

Mom:So you got the snaps...

Me:I am not going to studio anymore...Henceforth don't do all these things...I don't like it..Also don't threaten with your brahmastharam.

Mom:Ok we will not ask you to do it again..I will send this to the groom's family..

Me:Send to anyone as you wish...But don't bother me....

Mom: They want to send a snap through email,so can you scan this snap.

Me:I con’t do that anymore more.

After a round of arguments and advices I decided to use my mobile which had very poor resolution and took a snap.I captured it myself holding the mobile in one hand and giving a pose.phew.
The outcome of the snap was very worse.I sent the same so-not-good photo to my aunt as pointed by mom.

So what happened?

A trip to remember forever

I was meaning to write a post to keep my blog alive.I put on my thinking cap to decide on what topic I should write, the only topic that came to my mind is about our recent Munnar trip.

It was a day where streets were so busy with Vinayakar Urvalam.People carried Vinayakar idols and were ready to submerge the same in the sea.My hubby and I were all set and ready for our Munnar trip.I heard from my hubby that the Allappey express from chennai will leave by 9.15pm.We packed our baggages for our trip.Clock ticked 8.45pm still we didnot reach the station.Blame our lethargic attitude. My MIL was so kind enough to catch an auto and we did reach the station by 9pm.Thank god.

We boarded the train and reached Ernakulam the next morning. Thanks for the package tour concept. We got a cab in Ernakulam and it took 5 hours to reach Munnar. Our resort was bit away from Munnar so we travelled one more hour to reach the same. The resort name was ayurcounty. It is one cool resort.we didnot find any reason to complain about.

Munnar is completely clad with tea plantations. The climate is just awesome and my hubby is so much in love with the climate.snows everywhere...Resort is completely admist tea plantations.By the time 6 the entire surroundings became so dark and we never visited any places after 6pm.

Below are some of the places we visited in Munnar,if you plan for a trip do just get hold of these places.

1.Periyakanal falls:

Wah is the only word which we could use..Such a lovely falls...Water all the way...The water looks so silvery and this falls adds beauty with the awesome chill climate over there.

2.Mattupatti Dam:

Well we had no clue when our cabby showed the Mattupatti dam...The dam was not full with water.May be thatz why we were not fascinated with the place.

3.Echo point:

As the name goes, when you say something you hear the echo from the mountain. My hubby tried hard to hear his own sound but in vain...hey you hubby, eat healthy then only you will have the strength to shout like me :)

4.Rajamalai National park:

This place is our favourite. We need to take the bus to reach the top.The mountain is completely clad with snow everywhere also you could see falls running at many places especially in this park. You have to climb certain distance to see Nilgir Tahrs(Mountain goats) the rare variety of goats...Apart from it the view of the mountain look so nice from this place.Nothing so eyecatching about this place but still you will feel so refreshing when you visit this place.I can go on and on about the climate and the mountain view.but I stop here and you people do visit this place.

5.Tea Museum:

Kannan Devan Tea Plantations seems to be the pioneer to start the tea plantations over there...The tea museum lets us know a lot more about the tea plantations in Munnar...You could get varieties of tea products there for sale...We got our own share as well.We didnot get time to visit spice plantation and so we stopped with tea museum.

6.Periyar Tiger Reserve(Thekkady):

We also visited Thekkady after our Munnar trip.We stayed in hotel grand which is again a nice hotel. We don't have much places to visit there except Periyar tiger reserve. You get a chance to travel through boat to witness lovely scenic beauty of moutains and some real cool animals...We saw different birds, sambhar deer and bisons..My hubby was so eager to see tiger but phew we did not see it though people say the park does holds tiger...

We were so tired and so we wrapped our trip with our purchases.

We got spices, home made yummy chocolates(Hubby and I are die hard chocolate lovers) and tea powders.

We are in love with hot lemon tea which we tasted it in Munnar... I bugged my hubby to get it often and he was so kind enough to get me whenever I bugged him.

I am sick to travel and whenever the hairpin bends came my stomach went for a churn.Again my hubby was so patient enough to get me lime soda everytime when he saw me suffering. And all through the cab journey I was sleeping (blame my sickness).

It is one of the memorable trips.Yes it was the first trip with my hubby...It is one of the loveliest place on earth...oh yeah I can go on and on...Let me stop with this...Plan for a vacation and visit Munnar. It is really a stress buster from our hustling bustling work :)

My gratitude to all my teachers

"Matha, pitha, guru and deivam" goes the saying.

I never understood the importance of teacher till one day when I was struggling to solve a math problem. There came my mom in the form of a teacher. She took pains to teach me and imbibe me the concept.I felt so glad to see myself solving the problem. All the credit goes to my mom.It was She who acted as my guru.I then understood the value of a teacher.

September 5th is adjudged as "teacher's day".I am not into the debate to discuss why not all the other days but only on Sep05th we should our gratitude to our teachers. I wish to THANK all my teachers who stand as a beacon of light in my life...No gifts,no cards but only a hearfelt THANKS.

I wanted to mention few people who played a great role in my life.Considering the length I am mentioning the top few people.

1.My Maternal granny(Avva):

The greatest regret in my life is I don't have her now with me.She reached her heavenly abode. She was the one who inculcated all good qualities in me...Every day she used to tell me krishna leela and that became a routine...I can write pages and pages about her...SHE will be my role model for ever.If at all I wish to become someone I wish I become like my granny...After her disappearance the place is so VOID and I tell it can never be occupied by anyone. The first and foremost GURU is avva...I con't thank her now.But I know she will always bless me and She is a TRUE angel.

2.My Parents:

I am what I am only because of my parents.Mom always stands behind me to push me hard beyond my limits. When I was struggling to take MAJOR decisions in my life,I found my parent's shoulder.I use to(till now) tell anything and everything to my mom..I have not hidden anything from her.She is my love...I am still learning to grab all her nice qualities...

My dad he is everything to me...A friend, philosopher et all...The respect and love towards him is no bound...He is one real person for moulding me for what I am today.I owe all my success(if at all I have any) to my dad...Without my dad's support I con't imagine me...

3.My little devil(brother):

Stupid, dumbo, moron oh ho I attribute it to him..He is a total intellect who throws me intelligent question and see me struggling. He is my guru who teaches me starting from sports to physics.I had never scolded someone so badly but I did only to him..I learnt a lot from him and today I show my interest in almost all the fields, all the credit goes to my little devil.

4.Sugantha mam:

It was during my college days I accidently bumped at her.Her simplicity attracted me a lot.She is an angel.I worship her as equal to my parents.I gained great interest in english all because of her.I lost her contact. But she remains to be my role model always.Kudos mam.

5.Banu mam:

My physisc mam.I always looked at her in awe whenever she took quantum mechanice for me..The way she explained concepts is no par...She took very complex topics in such a way that reached us very easily. The greatest regret is,I did not follow her words when it came to studies.Else I would have pursued something related to physics from a top institute.Mam people like you are rare. You are indeed my role model.

6.Ravi sir:

My chemistry sir...I love chemistry for the mere reason of Ravi sir's teachings. He thought the concepts from the scratch . I never touched my book after his class because I grabbed everything when he was teaching us the concepts. He is one teacher who is very much essential for this student community.A special kudos to you sir.

And i would like to thank all my other teachers

Hari mama and Ranga mama:For teaching me the wordly lessons and many more that I can never put it in words.
Madhu: My guru when it comes to writing.I started writing poetries only after reading his poem. Thanks Madhu for being a great teacher and a true friend.
Naru: Another moron in the form of my bro.If I wanted to talk something loony I call him and we have good time.He can speak as insane like me..He is a duffer. He is the ONLY one person to whom I use SWEAR words! He is better than me at MATHS and loves to see me struggling by throwing intellect question.Hey Naru I always enjoy our CAT-IIM discussions da!You are my teacher in many ways.

Friends:Oh they play a great role in my life. The list is big.So I would like to curtail by saying a big thanks to all of you.

Relatives:thank you so much for teaching me all the aspects of life.

I would like to wrap saying "Miles to go before I sleep".But i am sure with people like you all around as my teachers the path of travel will be easy.
